I agree, while our friends from Cote D'Ivoire and Liberia had some pretty disturbing memories, we had a relatively idyllic childhood...except for some robberies, which were the exception, not the norm. We can pray, and thank God that we didn't have to deal with it as kids.Megan Cécile Radfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04921582255927774892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2684749699594677358.post-60765357387712166362012-01-18T06:00:46.785-08:002012-01-18T06:00:46.785-08:00A note from a longtime friend:

While everybody else talked about "peaceful Senegal," we always had the memory of gas stations set ablaze, of all stop lights broken, of windows broken, and then of the Maruitanian crisis, with murders happening all over the country, constant curfews. We're praying that you are spared of that.Megan Cécile Radfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04921582255927774892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2684749699594677358.post-48482508230860855362012-01-17T14:33:35.797-08:002012-01-17T14:33:35.797-08:00It's hard to see the Dakar of our youth on the...It's hard to see the Dakar of our youth on the precipice of breakdown and not be able to do anything about it. It brings into sharp relief an aspect of our "third-culture-ness" that we never really had to deal with as children. Glad to hear the story from friend and not a newscaster!Daniel Aisenbreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01137949143545132830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2684749699594677358.post-67717684633898458942012-01-17T08:39:23.839-08:002012-01-17T08:39:23.839-08:00Great overview. We are hoping and praying for the former!Sharon Radfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04980093371595685549noreply@blogger.com
